Deviant Community Projects

I've always been a huge fan of this site, and an even larger fan of the arts in general -and like most art fanatics I've always wanted to do something to contribute to the art community as a whole. Over the last few months, we've been discussing ways of bringing in new business, and it occured to me that I could do both. Maybe have a little cake and eat every bit of it. We've come up with some programs that we think will be a great help to some 'up and comming' artists, and hopefully bring us a little business in the process. Check back here for updates on what's going on with these projects -we'll also be putting together a site dedicated to these as well.

We're doing free sites -period! From now until we're bored with it. To apply simply send in a note or contact us on the site, this was initially supposed to be a one time thing, but we've decided to try and do one new one every three months or so. We will be dropping most of the other little projects we were considering in order to make this possible. This offer will go out to any artist here who truly wants to make their art into a career, we just want to help make that happen. In order to be considered, the artist will need to show some actual interest in it. Most of those who have applied or have been nominated for it as of yet have not, but we realize this may be because we've yet to actually do any free sites. I hope that getting this first one underway will help out with that.

Important
Please note that whoever is chosen, will have to host through us, have their domain registered to us, and aside from the fact that you're not paying -be a customer. We will not be building this site, then simply handing it off indefinitely. We want this deviant to become a customer of ours after the year is up. Also, domain names chosen must be standard US domain names (.com .net .info or .org)

Journal CSS Project

This project is out -I believe doing free sites on a regular basis would be a far more valuable contribution to the artists here. We will however be putting together journal css for each free site done, which matches the sites design (if the artist is interested).
_{Also, we will be finishing the one css journal we have in progress. (still haven't finished this either -batting zero here lately)}



why?
We're doing this for many reasons, and yes, promoting our services is one of them. Aside from that however, as the owner of mediabanana.com, I can say that we (mostly me) have a sincere love for this site and would like to do something to contribute to it's continued success. We've always supported the arts, and generally do work for artists at about half cost. It's just part of who we are -both personally and as a company.
I myself have been a member of DeviantArt since 2004 or 2005 (somewhere around there, various screen names), and it's the only "social network" type site that I actually involve myself with.
so, if anyone has any suggestions, or wants to participate in any of this -let me know.
